Ras Issa Port (Red Sea):

It is a huge oil tanker with a dead weight of (409) thousand metric tons. It was named (Safer) after the site where oil was first discovered in Yemen. This port is used to export Marib light oil.

Location:

The ship Safer docks at a location 4.8 nautical miles away from Ras Issa Beach, which is about 60 km north of the city of Hodeidah on the Red Sea coast.

Operator:

The Yemeni Safer Oil Company operates the port.

Water depth:

The water depth ranges between 37-40 m

The metering system used to measure source oil consists of:

- 5 16-inch turbine meters with a maximum flow capacity of 25 thousand barrels per hour for each meter.
- A 42-inch diameter calibration tube is used to calibrate meters to find the meter’s correction factor upon export.
- Sample collection (Gescott).

Storage capacity:

The Safer floating tank contains 34 tanks of different sizes, with a total storage capacity of approximately 3 million barrels.

Dimensions of tankers accepted for loading at Ras Issa Port:

- Its total length should not exceed 1,150 feet (350.6 metres).
- The non-submersible portion must not exceed 60 feet (18.3 m).
- Its draft must not exceed 10 feet (3 metres). The non-submersible part must not exceed 60 feet (18.3 metres).
