Hodeidah port

Origins of the port:

Hodeidah Port was established in 1961 in cooperation with the former Soviet Union.

Location:

The port of Hodeidah is located in the middle of the western coast of the Republic of Yemen, located on the Red Sea, at latitude 14.50 degrees north and longitude 42.56 degrees east. It is protected from natural phenomena by the extension of Ras al-Khadib from the western side, and the coast of the city of Hodeidah from the northern and eastern-southern sides.

Area:

The internal land area of the port campus, which is defined by an internal wall, is about three million square metres, and the external land area of the campus, which is defined by an external wall, is about three million square metres, bringing the total land area to about six million square metres.

The navigation channel and the internal and external areas of the port:

THodeidah Port is connected to a navigation channel up to a depth of 10 meters and a length of up to 30 km, equivalent to (16 nautical miles). The width of the navigation channel is 200 metres. The entire channel is marked with buoys illuminated by solar energy. The port has two areas for waiting for ships:
- The first area is located on either side of the first buoy (face) guide to entering the navigation channel (F.W.B).
- The second area is located northeast of the navigation channel opposite the Ras Al Kutheeb area.

Sidewalks:

The number of berths reached eight berths with a total length of (1,461 metres), including two 500-metre-long berths designated for unloading container ships, in addition to two 250-metre-long berths in the port basin designated for unloading petroleum tankers and other oil derivatives. The draft of these piers is 10 meters at low tide lowest.
