Mocha Port

The port of Mokha is considered one of the oldest ports, not only in Yemen but also on the peninsula and the Gulf level. The importance of this port comes as a result of its proximity to the international corridor, a distance of six kilometers, and its location in relation to the southern and central regions of Yemen. The construction of the new port was completed in 1978 by Dutch company.

Area and Location:

The total area of the port is about 466,350 square meters, and it is located on the Red Sea coast at latitude 13.19 north of the equator, and at latitude 43.04 east of the Greenwich meridian. It is 40.5 nautical miles north from Bab al-Mandab, and 100 kilometers west from the city of Taiz.

Navigational channel:

The navigation channel is 2 km long from the waiting area and 110 meters wide, with depths of 7.2-7.8 metres, leading to a turning basin with a diameter of 420 metres.

Sidewalks:

The port consists of Pier No. (1), 280 meters long, with depths ranging from 4.5-8.4 metres, and Pier No. (2), 150 meters long, with depths ranging from 7.2-7.8 metres. The width of the two piers (1 and 2) is 35 metres, built with iron beams and equipped with connecting grenades. 70 tons tensile strength with rubber protector.
