The Yemeni liquefied natural gas project in the port of Balhaf on the Gulf of Aden (between Mukalla and Aden) is considered the largest industrial project in the history of Yemen, at a cost of 4.5 billion US dollars. Work on the project was completed and the first shipment was exported in October 2009, and a second line was added in April 2010, which will lead to an increase in the exported quantities of liquefied natural gas from this project. This station receives liquefied gas from Sector No. 18 in the Marib-Al-Jawf Basin through 200-mile-long pipelines with a capacity of up to 900 thousand cubic feet per day.The Balhaf terminal berth is the main point where LNG tankers dock for the purpose of shipping. This berth can accommodate tankers with a capacity of 70,000 to 205,000 cubic meters of LNG. The marina is equipped with floating mooring points (dolphin) in addition to mooring arms that connect the tanker to the shipping pipes installed on the marina. The marina is also equipped with equipment, pumps and control rooms for pumping liquefied gas to tankers. This anchorage extends about 900 meters west of the liquefied gas project on the coast of the Gulf of Aden. 300 meters south of the marina, there is a sea headland that is used as a pier for ships that unload or load equipment for the project, or for mooring and attaching marine boats that are used to tow tankers. It is not used as a seaport.
